On December 11, 2024, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) announced Section 301 China tariff increases for five Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) subheading numbers related to tungsten, wafers, and polysilicon. The new rates represent a 25% increase over the currently assessed Section 301 duty rate. The rate change is effective on January 1, 2025.
The HTSUS numbers and their associated new rates of duty are listed below. These additional China tariffs result from a proposal the USTR made back in September.
Importers will need to apply the correct associated additional HTSUS to their customs entries in addition to the primary HTSUS number. These additional numbers replace any formerly used Section 301 China HTSUS (9903.88.XX).
