27 September 2024 01 MINS. Read USA
The renewal period for U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Facility Registration (FFR) runs from October 1 through December 31, 2024. Registrations renewed will be valid for a two-year period. Facilities that do not renew timely will have their registrations canceled at the end of the year.
For additional information, please refer to the FDA notice.
Who Needs to Register
Owners, operators, or agents in charge of domestic or foreign facility engaged in manufacturing/processing, packing, or holding food for consumption by humans or animals in the U.S., are required to register the facility with the FDA. Registration and renewal is free and can be handled through the FDA Industry Systems (FIS) account.
Unique Facility Identifier
All facilities must include a unique facility identifier (UFI) recognized as acceptable to the FDA with the food facility registration (FFR) submission. The UFI is used to verify that the facility-specific address associated with the UFI is the same address associated with the facility’s registration. Currently, the FDA recognizes the Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number as an acceptable UFI. The DUNS number is assigned and managed by Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) and can be obtained or verified by visiting D&B’s website.
