Hong Kong's air cargo hub gains momentum amid port challenges

In a strategic move to improve its international air cargo hub status, the Hong Kong government has announced plans aimed at enhancing the city’s air connectivity. This development reflects a significant shift in China’s logistics approach and has been positively received by local businesses.

Cathay Pacific, one of Hong Kong’s major airlines, expressed its full support for these government initiatives. The airline highlighted that strengthening ties with the Chinese mainland and cooperating with civil aviation authorities in Belt and Road countries will create new opportunities for tourism and business in Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific stated that the announcement aimed at strengthening ties and developing visitor sources from the Middle East and ASEAN countries would create even more tourism and business opportunities between Hong Kong and these significant regions.

This is important, especially as container port activity continues to decline. Local companies are optimistic that these changes will lead to increased air traffic and trade, reaffirming Hong Kong’s position as a vital player in the international logistics landscape.
